A Venomous Borneo Keeled Pit Viper was released in February 2015. It was found in the garden of a grandmother in Kampung Bebuloh, Tutong. It was her son, Mr Aziz who called 1stopBrunei wildlife to take it away.
The grandmother said that she has been seeing the viper since the viper was a baby 5-6 years ago. They even relocated it a few years back but it still came back to their home. So, Mr.Aziz called us to take the viper away as they have lot of children playing around and also its a far away place incase an emergency arises. Hence, the club then quickly took the viper.

The Borneo Keeled Viper, was identified by Dr Ulmar Grafe who is a Professor from Universiti Brunei Darussalam. He stated that as with other pit vipers, this is a venomous snake, with heat-sensing pits on the sides of the head. Furthermore, it is exclusively arboreal, and may be found at heights ranging from low vegetation to mid-canopy levels of around 20 metres or so. Its diet comprises of birds and arboreal rodents. It is also called the’ Ular Malas’ in Malay as it can stay put for weeks on end.

It was released in an undisclosed location after heeding advice from experts .
